If even the left (albeit the British left) can see the problems that accrue from continued lockdown\u00e2\u20ac\u201dwhich accrue primarily to those at the bottom of the ladder, then what should we do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And there&#8217;s this <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/incerto\/the-masks-masquerade-7de897b517b7\">from Nassim Taleb<\/a>. I can live with a society where people wear masks whenever they think they might be sick, or that a substantial fraction of the people they encounter might be sick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It would be nice, too, if we had some level of widespread agreement on what we&#8217;re trying to accomplish, and what can be allowed to supercede it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>However, there is one inconvenient truth that cannot be disputed: more black Americans have\u00c2\u00a0been killed by\u00c2\u00a0three months of\u00c2\u00a0coronavirus\u00c2\u00a0than the number who have been killed by cops and\u00c2\u00a0vigilantes\u00c2\u00a0since the turn of the millennium.<\/p><cite>Thomas Chatterton Williams in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/commentisfree\/2020\/jun\/08\/we-often-accuse-the-right-of-distorting-science-but-the-left-changed-the-coronavirus-narrative-overnight\">the Guardian<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;m so old, I can remember when the goal was the flatten the curve.
