My article &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.messofpottage.com\/blog\/2010\/07\/what-do-you-want-from-life\/\">What Do You Want From Life<\/a>?&#8221; appeared there today.<\/p>\n<p>But if you were listening to the right radio stations in the 1970s, you know that&#8217;s not just any question. It&#8217;s also the title of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/What-Do-You-Want-Life\/dp\/B001NYTWHY\">song<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetubes.com\/\">the Tubes<\/a>. They suggest several possible answers (&#8220;To kidnap an heiress and threaten her with a knife?&#8221; or &#8220;An Indian guru to show you the inner light?&#8221;) before concluding with the unfortunate news:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Well, you can&#8217;t have that,<br \/>\nBut, if you&#8217;re an American Citizen,<br \/>\nyou are entitled to&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8230;followed by several excellent entitlements, including:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nA foolproof plan <em>and<\/em> an airtight alibi<br \/>\n&#8230;<br \/>\nA Las Vegas wedding, a Mexican divorce<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And so forth.
