{"id":728,"date":"2011-09-20T14:58:23","date_gmt":"2011-09-20T21:58:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/accretiondisc.com\/blog\/?p=728"},"modified":"2011-09-20T14:58:24","modified_gmt":"2011-09-20T21:58:24","slug":"diff-tools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/accretiondisc.com\/blog\/2011\/09\/20\/diff-tools\/","title":{"rendered":"Diff Tools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My favorite <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Diff\">diff<\/a> tool is <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Apple_Developer_Tools#FileMerge\">FileMerge<\/a>, one of Apple&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/developer.apple.com\/technologies\/tools\/features.html\">developer tools<\/a>, which can be accessed from the command line as <em>opendiff<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>But from the command line, my (next most) favorite diff tool is <a href=\"http:\/\/colordiff.sourceforge.net\/\">colordiff<\/a>. It&#8217;s called that because it color-codes the output when it&#8217;s used interactively, making it IMHO easier to see what&#8217;s changed. Actually, <em>colordiff<\/em> is just a wrapper around the real <em>diff<\/em> tool.<\/p>\n<p>Another nice tool is <a href=\"http:\/\/os.ghalkes.nl\/dwdiff.html\">dwdiff<\/a>, which is compares two documents and highlights the different words rather than the different lines.
